The Sandy Hook Connecituct Shooter-What the Bible Says

The Sandy Hook Connecituct Shooter-What the Bible Says

What kind of human monster would go into a kindergarten room right before Christmas and open fire with a rifle and kill all of the children including his own mother? In China, another human monster stabbed 22 school age children.   These people are no longer human beings but bodies possessed by the devil himself.   The Bible tells us that the devil comes to “steal kill and destroy.” He also is a “roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.” These men are agents for the devil himself.
It seems as if the human race has just gone haywire, as daily we read more and more of these unbelievable and shocking stories. Also this same week a father took a knife and carved a pentagram onto his six year old son’s back.
My heart bleeds for the families who bought Christmas gifts for their children, some of those gifts might have already been under a tree, for them to learn that their child was shot to death while in grade school.   Can you imagine the hate that festered in the shooter’s soul? Hatred which not only caused him to kill his mother but also the children she taught.
The total narcissism to have no regard for the loss of life or the pain he was about to cause.   This is no doubt 11 Timothy, which states that in the last days perilous times will come that men in the last days will be “brutal:”
2 Timothy 3:1–5
3 But know this, that in the last days 1perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

The Newtown school killer fits nearly all of the adjectives on this list. He was no doubt a lover of himself, proud, disobedient to his parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, a slanderer, he was without self- control, brutal, a despiser of good, a traitor, headstrong, haughty and a lover of pleasure rather than a lover of God.  He found pleasure in his feelings of hated and was addicted to it.

Sadly, as a result of one man’s brutality, many young lives were ended, and their family’s lives changed forever.  Meanwhile more stories pour into the news of shocking evil acts and the natural disasters are pounding away. A record breaking cyclone hit Fiji leaving thousands of persons evacuating. These are no doubt the last days.

It is difficult to be a victim because of a person's evil actions.  Jesus tells us that in the end times there will be a lack of love, He predicts in Matthew 24:10: And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another,” Men will be so hateful that  family members will betray family members and deliver them to death. We are already seeing signs of this kind of brutality and hatred throughout the world.   No greater exhibition of hatred and brutality than through the evil act of the Sandy Hook killer.
Jesus concludes in Matthew 24:12, “And because lawlessness will abound the love of many will grow cold.  This was a man with no love in his heart, but only evil.

Our only comfort and our only hope in these difficult times is in Jesus. We can only find peace in Him as evil and brutal persons become more numerous and destroy and negatively impact many more lives. Jesus is our rock, he is our salvation, our anchor, our guide. When loss is so great, the emotional wind gets knocked out of your sails and there is nothing in this world that can comfort. Jesus can. I think of the song "It is well with my soul" written by a man who lost all of his four children when the boat sunk that his wife and daughters were traveling on.  This great work came out of such a horrific tragedy.  This man might have been sorrowful in his person but not in his soul.   Jesus is our only hope in contrast to such brutal persons and acts as the Sandy Hook killer.
